N.W.A were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Fame Friday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The legendary Compton rap group joined the ranks of Run DMC, Public Enemy and Beastie Boys as hip hop's crews being inducted over the years. The group said they would not perform at the event according to a New York Times report. "We're not performing. I guess we really didn't feel like we were supported enough to do the best show we could put on," stated Ice Cube.

Kendrick Lamar was given the honor to introduce the crew at the ceremony. Dr Dre, MC Ren, DJ Yella, and Ice Cube attended the event alongside Eazy E's mother, Kathie Wright. Dr. Dre gave praise to Eazy E stating, "One of the first people that believed in me, the first person to invest in my talent, me and this guy used to argue all the time in the studio, but at the end of the day we both realized that we were after the same goal, and that was to make great music. And I'm talking about Eazy E."

Ice Cube stated during his speech, “We’ve come a long way from being so hated in the industry to making it to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame."

During the monumental moment, MC Ren spoke on Gene Simmons' comment about "looking forward to the death of rap," during a Rolling Stone magazine interview.  Ren said, "I want to say to Mr. Gene Simmons, hip-hop is here forever. Get used to it."
