Mary Hastings, a teacher at Ozen High School in Texas, was arrested on Friday (April 8) on assault charges after a video surfaced of her repeatedly hitting a student. The video started making the rounds on social media last Friday, and the footage shows Hastings slapping the student, mocking him, and calling him "idiot ass."
A statement from the school district revealed that the teacher was immediately removed from the classroom and placed on paid administrative leave. Hastings, who has taught with the district for three years, was bonded out on $2500.
