Former NFL player, Bill Romanowski, apologized for referring to Cam Newton as a "boy" after the quarterback abruptly exited his post-game news conference. Romanowski tweeted, "You will never last in the NFL with that attitude. The world doesn't revolve around you, boy!"

The tweet received major backlash online from those who believed the post had a racial undertone. The term "boy," which was often used to oppress African-Americans before and during the Jim Crow era, wasn't going to be overlooked in 2016. Shortly after getting some choice words from the Twitter world, Romanowski apologized, telling his followers, "I apologize for that remark 'boy'. It was not intentional or even trying to disrespect others. Peace everyone." He added, "Calm down everyone! I meant he needs to grow up!"
