Chicago police officer, Robert Rialmo, filed a lawsuit seeking over $10 million against the estate of 19-year-old college student, Quintonio LeGrier, who he shot and killed Dec. 26. The officer claims the incident left him with "extreme emotional trauma."

The officer said he was prompted to shoot LeGrier, after he swung a bat at his head twice, and feared that the teen would kill him if he was struck in the head. During the shooting, LeGrier's neighbor, Bettie Jones, 55, was accidentally struck by a bullet and killed.

Rialmo's lawyer, Joel Brodsky says he is facing heavy burden following their deaths, "He's got this extra added burden (with) the death of Jones," Brodsky said. "He's going through what I would call the normal grieving process for someone who is forced to take a human life."
