BMX Legend and MTV Host Dave Mirra Dead of Apparent Suicide

Dave Mirra, BMX legend and host of MTV's "The Challenge" was found dead of an apparent suicide in Greenville, SC on Thursday (Feb. 4) afternoon. The Facebook page of the Greenville Police Department had a statement that read, "Officers discovered Dave Mirra, 41, of Greenville, sitting in a truck with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He had been visiting friends in the area a short time before the incident."

Skateboard legend Tony Hawk was among the many who paid tribute to Dave online. Hawk wrote a message that read, "Goodbye Dave Mirra, a true pioneer, icon and legend. Thank you for the memories... we are heartbroken." 

Mirra leaves behind his wife and two young daughters.
