Maurice White, the founder of the legendary horn-driven band Earth, Wind & Fire, has passed away at the age of 74. According to several reports, White suffered from Parkinson's Disease, which led to him dropping out of the band he founded while they went on to still perform.

The band sold over 90 million albums during their run, with hits like "September," "Shining Star," and "Boogie Wonderland" topping the charts. Vernine White, brother and bandmate to Maurice, sent out a statement following the news of Maurice's death, "My brother, hero and best friend Maurice White passed away peacefully last night in his sleep. While the world has lost another great musician and legend, our family asks that our privacy is respected as we start what will be a very difficult and life changing transition in our lives. Thank you for your prayers and well wishes."
