In December 2015 U.K. pop star Rita Ora sued Roc Nation after feeling "orphaned" by Jay Z's company. Ora claimed to have self-funded the majority of her creative projects, and however that may be, Roc Nation is now looking to have her cough up for not holding up to her side of their deal. According to the new lawsuit Ora agreed to create five albums when she signed with the Roc in 2008. They label also alleged to have spent well over $2 million to develop and promote her second album that still has yet to be completed.  Roc Nation is now seeking $2.4 million as a result of her lack of actions.

According to Rita Ora's lawyer, Howard King, Jay Z "personally and graciously" promised his client "complete freedom from Roc Nation." "We believe that Roc Nation's distributor, Sony Music, has required Roc Nation to file this action to preserve whatever rights Sony might have pending resolution."
