Yasiin Bey, also known as Mos Def, was arrested at Cape Town International airport on Thursday (Jan. 14) for allegedly violating local immigration laws.

According to the Department of Home Affairs, Yasiin Bey produced what he calls a "world passport" when attempting to leave the country. Bey entered the country with a U.S passport in 2013 and his visitors permit expired in 2014.

The court order states that Bey is banned from the country for five years, but may appeal the decision.
