Infamous durg lord El Chapo - Joaquin Guzman Loera - has been caught and arrested as announced by Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto. In what translates to read, "Mission accomplished. We have him. I want to inform the Mexican people that Joaquin Guzman Loera has been detained," tweeted Nieto.
Details on where El Chapo was detained are unclear but it is alleged that the capture occurred in Los Mochis, the town where he ran his drug empire, earlier this morning. While Guzman was taken alive five of his accomplices were gunned down.
El Chapo has escaped Mexico law enforcement's custody twice, once in 2001 and most recently in July of 2015. No word on if the United States still plans to request that Guzman be extradiated.
