Saturday, former Redskins defensive end, Dexter Manley, made an interesting comment during a discussion about Cam Newton possibly becoming the first African American quarterback to be named MVP. During the pregame show on WUSA-TV in Washington DC, the host said that Newton's ability to run and currently lead with 626 yards may be credited with experience from running from the police. Manley shocked his co-hosts when he theorized, "Most of the Black quarterbacks, they like running, because they're probably used to running from the law." Later, Manley apologized saying, "I made a comment about this Black quarterback stuff and I do apologize." He explained, "I say some things that I don't think about sometimes."
