Zaevion Dobson, a Knoxville, TN teen, was shot to death as he protected three female students from what officers believe was a gang-related shooting. Knoxville Police Chief David Rausch revealed that the Fulton High School football player was allegedly with friends when they were approached by a group of men who "randomly fired multiple times."

One of the girls whom Dobson shielded tweeted after the incident, "he died laying on top of me . I love him that's my brother man rest easy zae ILL NEVER FORGET YOU."

Dobson's brother Zach was present at the time of the incident, and he told WBIR-TV that he's still trying to process the incident, "Why would you shoot at random bystanders for nothing? We were just sitting there chilling. Zae, he was an awesome kid, awesome brother. Just know that I miss him. I miss my brother."

One of the suspects, Brandon Perry, 23, was found dead of a gunshot wound after crashing a car into an apartment. Two other men in the car that fled the scene were arrested, but one was released after questioning.

Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero spoke out following the incident, "He was really one of our success stories. Involved in sports, a mentee of one of our organizations in town. But still he falls victim to this."
