Tuesday night, St. Louis Rams wide receiver Stedman Bailey was shot twice in the head while sitting in a car near the Miami Gardens residence and remains in critical condition, according to CNN. Miami authorities say the 25-year-old and four others were in the vehicle "when another vehicle arrived and opened fire."

The driver and cousin of the athlete, Antwan Reeves was also shot multiple times trying to protect minors in the vehicle. Fortunately, they "drove themselves to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment," police said. ESPN is reporting that the team believes Bailey's condition is non life-threatening however, Reeves' wounds are more serious.

Wednesday, the Rams released a statement saying, "We are aware Stedman Bailey was involved in an incident this evening," they added, "We have spoken with Stedman and he is in the hospital in critical, but stable, condition. We are gathering facts about the situation and will provide updates as we learn more."
