Pusha T is set to bless the hip-hop world with his upcoming album, Darkest Before Dawn, which he revealed is a prequel to King Push, and the Virginia emcee recently shared his thoughts on the current state of rap.
The G.O.O.D. Music president told Billboard that he's not exactly pleased with where rap is today, and Pusha believes that he's the "the last Rap superhero," adding "When you look at just the state of Rap [now], I feel like it's a lot of complaining and vulnerability, and rappers being victimized."
After revealing that Raekwon and Jay Z were some of his biggest influences, the "Lunch Money" emcee stated that a lot of rappers today are dwelling on emotions in their music. He explained, "That's not the attitude that my favorites had and that's not the attitude that the greats had when I was coming up. These guys were really like superheroes to me. They dressed fresh. They rapped fresh. I thought they owned the world. I look at rappers now and it's like, man, it's just a sad case of poor business and the artistry is being questioned. It's just too much."
