Former undisputed boxing champion O'Neil "Supernova" Bell was shot dead during a robbery early on Wednesday (Nov. 25) morning in Atlanta.

According to police, Bell was getting off of a MARTA bus around 12:30 am with another person, and they were a approached by a stolen PT Cruiser who allegedly attempted to rob Bell and the other man. After an argument the men in the car fired a fatal shot into Bell's chest and seriously injured the unidentified man who was walking with him. 

Police reportedly do not think the gunmen knew Bell, who held the WBA, WBC, and IBF cruiserweight titles. The boxer also amassed a record 26 wins and three losses before retiring froom the sport in 2011. 

Atlanta police have released a screenshot of surveillance footage which features one of the men in the stolen car.
