Protests erupted around Chicago after the city released video footage of the death of 17-year-old Laquan McDonald, who was shot 16 times by officer Jason Van Dyke, and rapper Vic Mensa was spotted in the crowd. The Chicago native shared a photo on Snapchat as he walked around with fellow protesters on Tuesday (Nov. 24) night.

A video captured by Moor Insight TV also showed Vic getting into a scuffle with police while people from the crowd shout "let him go!" The rapper was able to be released from the situation, which he later spoke about in a video posted to Twitter by activist Malcolm London.

"We out in downtown Chicago right now. I just got hands put on me by police. We want justice for Laquan and we want justice for our people."
