Today former Subway spokesman Jared Fogle was sentenced to 15 years and eight months in prison after pleading guilty to child pornography charges.

According to Reuters, the 38-year-old fast-food pitchman agreed to avoid pornography, treatment for his sexual disorder, and will be a registered sex offender. In addition, the U.S. District Judge Tanya Walton Pratt also slammed Fogle with a lifetime of supervision.

During the sex offender's tearful and final statement, he addressed hurting his wife and children, in which the unmoved Judge told him, "You gave your wife $7 million, she'll be okay."

Federal prosecutors sought the maximum twelve year and seven month prison sentence for Jared Fogle, as they believe that it would send a message to others exploiting children. The former Subway spokesperson was originally facing up to 50 years in prison, but prosecutors accepted a lowered sentence in a plea agreement.

In August, Fogle pleaded guilty to traveling to engage in sex with a minor, which carries a 30-year sentence, as well as one count each of distributing and receiving child pornography, carrying a 20-year sentence. Court documents from the case provided "a window to Fogle's history and character," according to federal prosecutors. In them they learned Fogle had sex with two minors on separate occasions at undisclosed New York City hotels and paid them for it. At the time, the youngest of the two was just 16-years-old. As one prosecutor put it, "Fogle has sacrificed absolutely everything he had built—including his family—to engage in sexually explicit conduct with two minors. He emboldened a molester and a producer of child pornography."
