Derrick Coleman has been suspended indefinitely from the Seattle Seahawks following a serious hit and run on Wednesday evening. According to several reports, Coleman, the first deaf offensive player in the NFL, was driving at a high rate of speed when he hit a Honda Civic in his Dodge Ram.

Witnesses say Coleman left the scene of the accident after being helped out of his vehicle, which was turned on its side, and he was found two blocks away, barefoot. After being positively identified by witnesses, the athlete performed a sobriety test and Coleman provided a blood sample three to five hours after he was arrested.

While his agents claim that it's possible Derrick fell asleep at the wheel, the Seahawks suspended him indefinitely. The team's quarterback, Russell Wilson, commented on the situation, saying, "It's an unfortunate situation I really don't know anything about it that's all I can say about it."

Coleman is currently facing felony hit & run charges, but his lawyer, Stephen Hayne, is adimant that his client did not take drugs or alcohol before driving. Hayne also released a video following the incident, which he thinks will exonerate Coleman of any drug or alcohol charges. The footage shows Coleman saying the alphabet and counting from 53 to 33, which you can check out in the above slide.
