Rumors recently arose of Matt Barnes getting into an altercation with his former Lakers teammate Derek Fisher after learning Fisher was romancing his estranged wife, Gloria Govan, which the Memphis Grizzlies baller addressed.

ESPN.com senior writer Ramona Shelburne shared the details of her phone conversation with Barnes, who dispelled some rumors from original reports of the incident. He reportedly told Shelburne, "I can't believe people think I was some maniac driving 95 miles and listening to Tupac to go beat somebody up," before revealing his side of the story.

Matt explained that he lives 15 minutes away from Gloria and his twin sons, one of whom Facetimed him the night of the incident, and his demeanor worried Barnes. After his son told him,  "Mommy's friend Derek is here," while looking downtrodden, the famed athlete decided to go over to the house to check in on the situation.

While he declined to comment on the altercation between him and Fisher, Matt addressed his relationship with his former teammate, "We were close. We were friends. Some things have happened to change that. It is what it is."
