Tom Hanks' son Chet Hanks set off a hot-button issue after he tried to defend White people using the n-word (himself included). After hearing from a former friend about his word choice and tons of displeased commentators, Chet - formerly known in the rap game as Chet Haze - disappeared, leaving many to assume something bad must have occurred.

Yesterday, Hanks took to Instagram to dispel any and all rumors regarding his absence, and according to the videos Chet took time off to recover from a long-winded drug addiction. "I've been in rehab - I've been trying to get my s*** together and I'm doing pretty damn good," he revealed in one of the first clips. "I just had to really take a look at myself and my life and the way s*** was going, and all the crazy, stupid s*** I was doing and just finally admit to myself that it wasn't working."

Chet says being the son of such an established actor and trying to find his place in the world are just a couple of the struggles he's had to deal with in the past, which is why he ended up finding solace in drugs and alcohol. "A couple months ago I was selling coke, doing coke until I couldn't even snort it up my nose anymore 'cause it was so clogged. I even smoked crack,' admitted Chet. "If I can change, you can change. There is a solution."

Hanks also spoke out about his n-word usage, apologizing to those he upset in the process. "I know a lot of y'all kinda understood the point I was trying to make, but the truth is it's not my place to speak on that, and I'm genuinely sorry for the people I offended."

Hear about Chet's restoration of faith and God and how he plans to help others dealing with similar situations above.
