If you're not familiar with NASCAR, fans of the sports organization usually wave Confederate flags before and after races - race car legend Richard Petty calls the habitual act a mere "passing fancy," despite the the flag's negative connotations towards African-Americans.

Petty isn't "necessarily endorsing" Dr. Ben Carson, but the two were spotted together as the Republican presidential candidate made an appearance at a camp for disabled children. When asked about Petty's aforementioned statement regarding the Confederate flag, Ben Carson says he doesn't see a problem with NASCAR fans waving it "if it's private property and that's what they want to do." "Swastikas are a symbol of hate for some people, too. And yet they still exist in museums and places like that," Carson told the Associated Press as he compared the two hate symbols. ''If it's a majority of people in that area who want it to fly, I certainly wouldn't take it down."

Carson was also quoted on the record calling the flag debate "a local issue" just as his wife made him aware of what "hush puppies" are. Earlier this week, Kanye West called Dr. Ben Carson "the most brilliant guy" - let us know how you feel about the presidential candidate below.
