Curtis Young may not have gotten the chance to play his father, Dr. Dre, in "Straight Outta Compton," but he recently revealed to XXL that he will get his chance to play the role in the upcoming "Dogg Pound For Life" biopic.

Young made it clear that "There's no sequel to Straight Outta Compton," and he added, "This is the Dogg Pound For Life movie. I'm cast to play my father. That is official. Right now they're looking for funding. There are talks with 50 Cent and some other people. The script is pretty much done. I can't really speak on the characters but I just got photos of who's going to be playing who. I'm just really excited to be a part of it."

Daz Dillinger recently revealed that 50 Cent seemed interested in getting involved the film, which Young shed more light on,  "We're all at the beginning stages. We've got to get it funded, but they'll get it funded. It wouldn't make sense for someone to not fund that movie."

Curtis didn't grow up around Dre, as he only found out that the legendary emcee was his father when he was twelve. After hiring lawyers and having a paternity test conducted to prove Dre is his father, Curtis has been close with the Beats CEO since they met when he was twenty.

The 33-year-old aspiring rapper explained what it was like after he got the confirmation that Dre is his birth father, "You're going through all this and you're trying to find yourself, that's a whole different period I went through. I was like, 'I just want to be just like him. I'm going to wear khakis and I'm going to be a gangster.' It just really wasn't me. I grew up in Compton, not that I'm no punk or anything, but I never had that in me. Everybody knew me and I was cool. I was the ladies man. Something that I had to grow into was just being Curtis Young. Curtis Young is a grown and sexy vibe, just talking about the life stories that I've been through. I had it rough. It's not your average story."
