Lupe Fiasco's Lasers album was released after fans across the globe campaigned and constructed actual in-person demonstrations, but the Chicago emcee admitted on Facebook that he wants to "unmake" the project. He promised that he would destroy any copies sent to him by fans with a laser after being inspired by the documentary "ATARI E.T.," which shows the video game company burying unused copies of its E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial game in 1983.

Lupe told fans, "My 3rd musically related thing I want to accomplish this year is not to make another album but to do something waaaay stupider...I want to unmake an album. I watched the ATARI E.T. documentary and got inspired. So here's my idea. For all you people who really hated my 3rd album LASERS for whatever reason in the universe I want you to send it back to me so I can destroy it with an actual Laser."

Lupe, who says he still loves the album, said that he won't issue a refund or apology, but he promised that if he gets enough people using the hashtag #‎TheReturnOfLasers‬ he'll destroy the albums on New Year's Day 2016.
