Despite concerns about riots, Fetty Wap's free concert for high school students went smoothly on Thursday with the rapper getting a key to his hometown city of Paterson, New Jersey.

According to NJ, the "Again" rapper performed for 1,200 Paterson High School students for a special back-to-school concert. The rapper was a student at Eastside High School, but did not graduate. He praised the the students for their hard work and even rapped along with the city's mayor, Jose "Joey" Torres. Calling him an inspiration to to the youth of Paterson, Torres presented Fetty with a key to the city.

"Without y'all, the world wouldn't know who I am." Fetty said accepting the honor. Before the students headed home with free school supplies, they were also treated to a surprise guest, French Montana. Artists from RGF (Real Good Fellas) Productions also performed a few local favorites for the teenagers.

While the show was intended for high school students, fans of all ages were able to view the concert from outside of Oak Street field. Kids as young as eight called the "Trap Queen" spitter the greatest rapper in the world and claimed Fetty gives them hope that their dreams are attainable. Fetty promised the crowd that he'll perform in a bigger space so more of his fans can attend. His debut album is expected to drop Sept. 25 through his deal with 300 Entertainment.
