A 34-year-old Massachusetts man is facing several charges after allegedly knocking a police officer unconscious early Tuesday, brawling with several other officers, and attempting to kick out the window of a police cruiser.

Joseph M. Parker of Wakefield pleaded not guilty to charges that included four counts of assault and battery on a police officer, as well as disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and destruction of property. A judge set bail at $25,000.

Authorities said that in addition to the officer knocked out by Parker, six others were also injured -- two were assaulted during his arrest and four more were assaulted at the police station.

It all began early Tuesday morning when officers stopped Parker in a construction zone. Parker reportedly said "I know why you stopped me," cursed out the officers and mentioned events in Ferguson before punching a lieutenant in the face. The officer fell backwards and was knocked unconscious after his head struck the ground.

Parker continued to be combative with officers during his arrest and again once he arrived at the police station to be booked.

In his booking mugshot, a visibly roughed up Parker can be seen raising his hand in a salute.
