A fight broke out at an Ohio prison last week after a drone dropped a package containing heroin, marijuana and tobacco into the facility's outdoor rec yard, prison officials said.

Officials at the Mansfield Correctional Institution say the drone released almost a quarter-ounce of heroin, over 2 ounces of marijuana and more than 5 ounces of tobacco.

A spokesperson for the state's Department of Rehabilitation and Correction says video footage showed the drone over the yard immediately before a fight broke out. A subsequent investigation found that the drone had released a package meant for an inmate in one prison yard, but it was picked up and thrown over a fence into the adjacent prison yard, which led to the brawl.

The nine people involved in the fight were placed in solitary confinement. No staff members or inmates were injured, the department said.

Authorities are still investigating who was piloting the drone.
