A New Jersey state trooper allegedly shot at three teenagers who mistakenly knocked on his door over the weekend, according to state prosecutors.

The prosecutors claim that they knocked on the front and back doors of Trooper Kissinger Barreau's home early Sunday morning, believing it belonged to their friend next door. Barreau thought the teens were burglars and he chased them down the driveway and shot at their cars as they tried to drive away from the armed officer.

The boys later called police to report the incident, and arrested for suspected attempted burglary. After being held for nine hours the teens were released without charges.

No criminal charges have been filed against Barreau, who continues to work while the shooting is being investigated.
