42-year-old Raynette Turner was pronounced dead at approximately 2.p.m. Monday after being found unresponsive in her cell at the Mount Vernon Police Department.

Turner was arrested Saturday (July 25) for stealing a box of crab legs out of a Restaurant Depot in Westchester County. According to NY Post, "had a history of hypertension and had undergone bariatric surgery for weight loss." Turner informed cops Sunday night that she was feeling under the weather before they transported her to Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital and later returned her to the jail cell. Monday afternoon she was found dead after cops embarked on their routine rounds.

Harold, Turner's husband, was not informed of her death until Tuesday, though he showed up for her arraignment Monday and was only told she didn't feel good. "The detectives won't say a word about anything. There's total silence," said Osvaldo Gonzalez, the Turner family's lawyer.

The New York State Attorney General's Office is currently investigating.
