Comments made by Nicki Minaj on Twitter earlier today about not receiving a nomination in the MTV Video Music Awards "Video of the Year" category led to a bit of strife with Taylor Swift, and eventually ended in a discussion on racism in the music industry which played out on the Queens femcee's Twitter page. Oh, and Kim Kardashian somehow got involved as well.

It all began when Nicki tweeted her disdain at not receiving a "Video of the Year" nod for "Anaconda." "If I was a different 'kind' of artist, Anaconda would be nominated for best choreo and vid of the year as well," she wrote on Tuesday.

After sending a few more tweets pointing out the heavy cultural impact of her "Anaconda" visuals, Nicki tweeted, "If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year."

That tweet got the attention of "Video of the Year" nominee Taylor Swift, who seemed to take offense. "@NICKIMINAJ I've done nothing but love & support you. It's unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot..," Swift wrote.

Making it clear that Swift wasn't on her radar in regards to the tweet, Nicki immediately responded. "Huh? U must not be reading my tweets. Didn't say a word about u. I love u just as much. But u should speak on this." She then added, "@taylorswift13 I'm still confused as to why u just tweeted me when I made it abundantly clear..."

The tangled web got thicker after Kim Kardashian became involved, though it may have been inadvertant. Tweeting a photo from her recent Vogue shoot with the caption, "Imma let you finish but...," the reality queen quickly deleted the tweet and insisted that it was just poor timing and she's not taking sides in the issue.

As if things weren't complicated enough, Bruno Mars added his two cents comparing the VMAs to the WWF and sending a big "f*ck you" at Ed Sheeran.

Check out the full exchange up top, including tweets from Nicki expressing her belief that Black women are discriminated against in the music industry.
