A new face is coming to this year's biggest drama.

According to The YBF, Kelly Rowland has been casted to in the hit show, Empire. Rowland will star as Lucious Lyon's (Terrence Howard) mother in several flashback scenes. Writers from the show tweeted their excitement last month and shared a photo of the writing cast with the singer.

Several high profiled acts were added to the cast like Chris Rock, Lenny Kravitz, Alicia Keys and Marisa Tomei.

The show has continued to maintain its popularity among fans. At the BET Awards this year, the Empire cast was spoofed by hosts Tracee Ellis Ross and Anthony Anderson and also performed a few songs from the show including "Drip Drop."

The show's second season will debut on Sept. 23.
