MLB Analyst and former player Darryl Hamilton, 50, was shot dead by his girlfriend, Monica Jordan, 44, in a murder-suicide at their Pearland, Texas home over the weekend. Their 14-month-old child was also in the home at the time of the shootings, but was not harmed.
According to several reports, Jordan had a history of violence in her previous marriage and burned her home down in 2008 after accusing her husband of cheating. Her former husband gained custody of their children following their split.
Hamilton's lawyer, Gary Zimmerman, said that his client was in good spirits recently, "He was excited. He was upbeat. We never discussed a protective order or anything that would come close to what she did. It's unimaginable that she would do this." Zimmerman also added that the couple had been broken up for months, and had agreed on $1,300 per month child support payments.
