Just weeks before the season premiere of "Basketball Wives: LA," Draya Michele has announced her engagement to Dallas Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick.

In an interview with People, the reality star says she was obviously surprised by the engagement, but happy to start the rest of their lives together. Scandrick, 28 and Michele, 30, have been dating on and off since 2013.

"He told me to dress casual and we ended up going to where we had our first date," Michele said. "He was acting so weird and so nervous. When he walked up to the bar he tripped and fell over some chairs! I was thinking 'What in the world is wrong with him?"

She said she was led to tears and a few laughs when he got on one knee.

"He got down on one knee and as soon as he started to talk I got nervous and couldn't help but to laugh hysterically," she said. "I was laughing and crying at the same time."

Michele's ring-- a square six carat diamond, was designed by Jasons of Beverly Hills and just what the reality star wanted.

"It's more than beautiful," says Michele, "more than I expected."

While the swimwear fashion designer is thrilled about her engagement, she's aware that others might not share her happiness including her "Basketball Wives" co-stars.

"I don't think [my cast mates] will care," she said. "They don't put a lot of energy into positive things happening in my life."
