Recently, Sprite has launched its limited-edition assortment of soda cans which will feature Hip-Hop lyrics by some of the genre's most respected lyricists, reports XXL. Some of the notable emcees who have earned this distinction include Rakim, Nas, Biggie, and Drake.
As a part of the inaugural "Obey Your Verse" Lyrical Collection, 16 can designs will be available for this special collection, and it will run throughout the summer. In addition to the 12 ounce cans, lyrics will also appear on multipacks and 20-ounce bottles.
In a press release Nas addressed his thoughts about this topic saying, "Legacy means everything to me. When I wrote these lyrics, I never imagined my fans would someday have the opportunity to enjoy a can of Sprite and experience my art in a totally original way."
"Based on their reputation for being true to themselves through their music and advancing the culture," are a few of the factors as to why these artists were selected. Rakim's "Microphone Fiend," and "Paid in Full," Biggie's "One More Chance," Nas' "If I Ruled the World" and "It Ain't Hard to Tell," and Drake's "Started From The Bottom," and "Over," are amongst the collection of songs that will feature lyrics on the specialized Sprite cans.
