For the past several years Hot 97's annual Summer Jam concert has become infamous for at least one violent occurrence - it's almost come to be expected. Unfortunately, this year was no different as several riots broke out last night with cops clad in riot gear reportedly using tear gas on the crowd.

Many of the concertgoers at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey claimed that they weren't able to get in because there was a problem with ticket scanning, though several news outlets have reported that many of them were trying to get into the celeb-filled stadium without having purchased one. According to ABC 7, "people without tickets jumped the fence and were stopped by security as they approached the doors, prompting the confrontation with state police." Things got even more hectic as several bottles were thrown at the police as they used tear gas on many of the people outside. As of this morning (June 8), it is unknown exactly how many people were apprehended, though it has been confirmed that one State Police Officer suffered minor injuries.

Hot 97 tweeted out the following: "For those whose Summer Jam tickets were not scanned, refunds will be offered at point of purchase."
