Last month on May 22, emerging Chicago rapper Shaquon "Young Pappy" Thomas released his visual to "Shooters," in which he mentioned a rival gang and even questioned their aiming skills rapping, "You don't even know how to shoot," reports the Chicago Tribune.

One week later, Young Pappy would be fatally shot on Friday (May 29), around the same Uptown area where he filmed the video. Area police confirmed that the neighborhood where he was murdered is densely populated with three street gangs: the Gangster Disciples, the Black P Stones, and the Conservative Vice Lords. As a result, the area has been immersed in long-standing feuds. Law enforcement sources have labeled Young Pappy as a Gangster Disciple, and this may have led to Pappy's untimely demise.

Early Friday morning, around 1:35 a.m., Young Pappy was in the neighborhood walking around with a friend, when a gunman reportedly walked from behind and started shooting. Young Pappy sustained two gunshot wounds to the back and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Violence continues to grip Chicago, back in April, Lil Bibby spoke about how even President Barack Obama couldn't fix Chicago's epidemic violence, and over Memorial Day weekend 12 people were killed and 56 others were shot in the Windy City.
