A 15 year-old teen was robbed and beaten on the L train platform in broad daylight on Friday afternoon at 3:30pm. According to Fox NY, the incident originally began at the Broadway Junction station, and continued to the Atlantic Avenue station (on a Canarsie bound train) where he was later pulled and dragged onto the platform by a group of teens, and stripped and robbed of everything from his shoes, to his pants, and cell phone.

The victim sustained a few injuries, none of which were life threatening, and despite there being tons of pictures and videos captured by pedestrians of the incident, police have yet to make any arrest thus far.

Community activists say these sort of offenses are occurring more and more these days, due to an alarming rise in not only the crime rate, but also in gang activity. Activist Tony Herbert told the NYDailyNews that this is just the latest example of escalating gang violence between teens: "What is happening nowadays is a group of teens will walk up to another group of teens, whether they be two or more, and ask what gang they reppin, then in a flash of a second the assault begins," he said.

There's no question that the MTA, or the boys in blue need to beef up the safety measures for all strap-hangers, mainly to ensure that these crimes don't continue on a regular basis.
