The historic bout between Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Manny Pacquiao took place earlier this month on May 2, and "Pretty Boy" Floyd has improved his unblemished record to a perfect 48-0.

Although many critics considered the hyped match an utter disappointment, it's now clear that the bout brought in many millions of dollars in pay-per-view revenue, and simply shattered previous records becoming the highest grossing PPV event of all time.

PPV distributors initially reported that the fight garnered over 4.4 million U.S. buys equaling more than $400 million in stateside PPV revenue. Then combining the extra cash made from the MGM Grand's live gate in Las Vegas, merchandise sales, sponsorships, and international television distribution, the highly lauded event is on track to generate more than $500 million in worldwide gross receipts.

The Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight doubled the previously held record of 2.48 million PPV buys from the 2007 Oscar De La Hoya vs. Floyd Mayweather fight.
