On Monday, California State Senator Isadore Hall of the 35th District awarded fellow Compton native Kendrick Lamar with the legislative body's 35th Generational Icon award for his charitable efforts and achievements in the community.

K. Dot's benevolent donations of both his time and his resources to the Compton Unified School District and a host of other non-profit agencies helped to solidify his status as the recipient of the 35th Generational Icon award.

Enveloped by humility, the Good Kid addressed those in attendance saying, "It's definitely an honor to be right here in front of you guys." "Being from the city of Compton and knowing the parks that I played at and neighborhoods, I always thought how great the opportunity would be to give back to my community," he added.

Congrats to Kendrick on an honor well earned; you can watch him accept the award up top.
