In exclusive footage obtained by TMZ, Hip-Hop icon Russell Simmons spoke about Geraldo Rivera's comments maligning the culture.

Offering Geraldo a realistic account, Simmons attests, "The prison industrial complex got people so twisted. For forty years they've been locking up diseased drug-addicts, educating them in criminal behavior and dumping them back in the 'hood. The poetry is a reflection of what comes from that jail culture."

Simmons, whose actions have helped to construct the Hip-Hop culture, opens up about his opinion on Geraldo, "He used to be a progressive. He used to do such good work. Now he's just a talking head...He used to do something -- 30, 40 years ago-- but he's not relevant anymore."

On Tuesday, Feb. 17, Geraldo Rivera related to Huffington Post Live that within the past ten years Hip-Hop has been more destructive to black and brown people than racism.
