The celebrity leaked scandal reached its peak when perpetrators unveiled several photos of actress Jennifer Lawrence. The actress kept quiet through the leaks, but decided to speak out on the nightmare in the November issue of Vanity Fair.
The Oscar winner, who appears naked on the cover, says that the leaks should be viewed as sex crimes. She also says laws should be implemented for the millions of people who viewed and shared them online.
"It is not a scandal. It is a sex crime," she said. "It is a sexual violation. It's disgusting. The law needs to be changed, and we need to change. That's why these Web sites are responsible. Just the fact that somebody can be sexually exploited and violated, and the first thought that crosses somebody's mind is to make a profit from it. It's so beyond me."
The actress said the toughest part about the leaks was facing her father about them. Over 50 photos of Lawrence were spread on sites like 4chan and Reddit. She says the reason behind her high amount of nude pictures is because of her former long distance relationship.
"I started to write an apology, but I don't have anything to say I'm sorry for," she said. "I was in a loving, healthy, great relationship for four years. It was long distance, and either your boyfriend is going to look at porn or he's going to look at you."
