Peter Rosenberg & Ebro Darden of Hot 97 took to the airwaves this morning and addressed an often unspoken aspect of dissonance within Hip-Hop culture. As of late, Rosenberg has been under fire for what many perceived as being disrespectful to Hip-Hop legend Chuck D, who recently called out Hot 97 for several infractions within the culture.

During their morning segment, "The Realness," Rosenberg addressed the slander he's received, and concluded that much of it is plain ole' racism:

"I just always sort of had a higher expectation and standard for non-white people...so I never really thought about other races ability to be racist. Then, I say one thing that people don't like, and all of a sudden to a lot of people, the 17 years of goodwill that I've put towards Hip-Hop goes out the window. The words that are replaced are often keywords that you can listen for, that have one thing in common. They are very often about me being Jewish, the evil Jew."

He continues to say that as a white man in America, he will never complain about oppression. However, he refuses to believe race should dictate who is or isn't "entitled" to Hip-Hop.

"If you think for some reason that your skin tone entitles you more to Hip-Hop culture than me because of mine, and you think you contribute more to Hip-Hop culture when you haven't bought a CD since 1993 and we give our lives to this? F off."

Ebro backs up Rosenberg, and later took to Twitter where he confirmed that at least one person they were referring to was Combat Jack of The Combat Jack Show podcast. The two of them went back and forth for a short time before both moved on, with Jack accusing Ebro of being "drunk off what you perceive to be power."

Check out the tweets, and Rosenberg questioning an old tweet Combat Jack posted yesterday on Instagram.
