The talk of penalizing NFL players for the racial slurs has been talked about for months, but head officials are ready to law down a fine for players using the n-word.

According to ESPN, players would be penalized 15 yards if they say the slur on the field. The competition committee plans to meet this month to discuss the ban further before making any final calls. John Wooten, head of Fritz Pollard Alliance that stands over diversity in the NFL believes that the word should be 'policed everywhere.'

"We want this word to be policed from the parking lot to the equipment room to the locker room," he said. "Secretaries, PR people, whoever, we want it eliminated completely and want it policed everywhere."

In an in depth discussion on the possible penalty, ESPN's Micheal Wilbon and Jason Whitlock spoke on opposing sides of the debate. Wilbon says that the officials are much more removed from the term which makes it easier for them to ban.

Whitlock on the other hand believes that no matter how players may use the word, it's roots have a darker meaning; making it an unacceptable word to use on the field.

"We made it complex issue," he said. "We tried to desensitize it, but it will always be a reprehensible word."

Do you think the NFL should penalize players for using the word?
