Pittsburgh rapper Mac Miller opened up to Complex in a recent interview, telling them how he became addicted to promethazine after receiving poor album reviews. The bad press around "Blue Slide Park" fueled Miller's addiction, and sent him into a downward spiral.

During the Macadelic Tour in March 2012, Mac primarily played colleges, reinforcing the idea that he's simply a "frat" rapper. Throughout that tour, Mac lost himself somewhere along the line.

"I love lean, it's great" said Mac. But then he explained how things went from good to bad quickly. "I was not happy and I was on lean very heavy," revealed Miller. "I was so f***ed up all the time it was bad. My friends couldn't even look at me the same. I was lost."

Mac finally quit sipping last fall.

"For how much he was drinking, it's unbelievable that he stopped," said Mac's childhood friend Jimmy. "It's definitely one of the most impressive things he's ever done."
