Lander Chappell, Private First Class, recently discussed an incident that occurred during his first deployment in which he suffered a life-threatening injury. He was clearing a road of IEDs while listening to his favorite song titled "Tie My Hands", a 2008 track by Lil Wayne.

"I play it all the time. And I sing it all the time. And the beat is always in my head," Private First Class Lander said.

Chappell went on to explain in detail what happened during the incident, a situation in which he lost his left leg.

"We were going to clear this road, and we had a thing that shoots grenades down the road. Pressure grenades to put pressure on the ground to blow any pressure plate IED's," Lander told Komo News. "We had a guy who was clearing. I guess he just missed it. And as I came up, I stepped to the right just a little bit and next thing I knew, I was in the air. I'm looking at the sky. I don't wanna look, I don't wanna look. At the same time, you really want to look because you just want to see. Make sure. But my leg, it was gone."

A fellow soldier came to Lander's aid and attempted to keep him calm and conscious during the ordeal. Lander says the soldier reminded him of his favorite song and told him to just sing it to take his mind off of what was going on.

"He was like, 'I got something for you,'" Lander recalled. "Sing your song. Sing your favorite song. Sing it, sing it, sing it. It got my mind off it and finally the medivac came. We were still singing," he recalled. "We get on to the medivac. It's one of the things I really appreciate him doing for me."

Lander's left leg was replaced later on and he credits the Young Money front man and his music for saving his life. Wayne was made aware of this story and took to Twitter to show his gratitude.

"PFC Lander Chappell, I've always known that my musik could change lives but I never knew it could save em as well," Wayne tweeted. "Thank u."
