Hurricane Sandy postponed the NBA season opener between the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets, but the storm couldn't prevent the anticipation from growing as Brooklyn was buzzing when the game took place at the Barclays Center Monday night. The players didn't disappoint either, as four quarters weren't enough and the game went into overtime, seeing the Nets draw blood in this potential building rivalry as they captured the victory over the Knicks.

It was only right for part owner of the Nets, Jay-Z, to be in attendance as he sat courtside with his wife Beyonce. Jay was obviously pulling for his Brooklyn Nets to get the win, and after they did, the rap mogul took to Twitter and had a message for anyone who doubted his team.

"The city is under new management," Jay briefly tweeted, suggesting that the Nets were the new team to be reckoned with in New York City.

There's a short gap between the next Nets/Knicks meeting as they play against each other once again in early December back at the Barclays Center. Basketball fans should prepare for another great game.

What are your thoughts on Jay's message?
