The aftermath of Hurricane Sandy is slowing down the city that never sleeps. New York City's transit chief dubbed the storm the most "devastating" event to the city's subway system ever in history.

As of Monday night, seven subway tunnels were submerged under overflow from the East River, along with the Queens Midtown Tunnel. Metropolitan Transit Authority chairman Joseph Lhota revealed that there was "no firm timeline" for when the subways would be up and running again.
