Rap mogul Jay-Z and his wife Beyonce played host for Barack Obama at a fundraiser on Tuesday. The trio were at Jay's 40/40 Club in New York City and Obama took some time from his speech to show praise for both Hov and Bey.
"Beyonce could not be a better role model for my girls," he said according to reports. Obama later mentioned that he and the Brooklyn rapper actually have a lot in common. "We both have daughters and our wives are more popular than we are. So, you know, we've got a little bond there. It's hard but it's okay."
Continuing on with his initial fundraiser speech, Barack noted some good points. He stated that he didn't want to be over-confident but at the same time he doesn't want to be content with just winning either.
"I don't want people to be complacent, but I don't want people to be discouraged. We're on the brink of an election, but more importantly, we're on the brink of moving America in a direction where we're going to be more just, more fair. The economy's going to grow in a way that includes everybody, an America that's respected around the world, because we're putting forward our best values and our best ideals."
Obama, who was without his wife and daughters, then turned his attention back to his celebrity hosts.
"To J and B, thank you so much for your friendship," he said simply. He also joked that his family was jealous because they weren't in attendance. "Michelle, Sasha and Malia are mad at me because they aren't here," he said.
