After dropping Trukfit, his own skateboarding clothing line, it's clear that skateboarding is becoming a large part of the Lil Wayne persona. His hometown of New Orleans, and specifically the Lower Ninth Ward district, have always been important to Wayne, and he's been active in the rebuilding process post-Katrina. As part of his partnering with Mountain Dew for their "DEWeezy" campaign, Lil Wayne has announced plans for a skatepark to be built in the Lower Ninth Ward, where he will hold several events to spark skating interest in the community.

Weezy picked the location himself, and plans to hold the ribbon cutting ceremony sometime in August 2012. Watch out for other DEWeezy projects, as the rapper and soft drink company will continue to collaborate through music and skateboarding.
